As a national leader in meat processing, Wolverine Packing Co. produces more than 8 million burgers each week, filling almost any size order for both international and domestic customers. The company operates out of four facilities in Detroit, MI. Wolverine’s continued growth led to a need for a 5th production facility. Owners had many opportunities to expand outside of the Detroit region however they remained committed to helping bring life back into the local economy by choosing to build their fifth facility in Detroit’s Eastern Market. When Dick Cold Storage became the victim of a tragic fire that destroyed one of their distribution facilities, Tippmann Innovation reached out to see how they could help. They quickly organized engineers and construction teams to assure an above average timeline for the new project. Designed with seven independent convertible rooms containing temperature ranges from -10 °F - 40°F, the 115,000 sf. warehouse allows for maximum flexibility. The 50’ clear ceilings give room for nine high pallet elevations and include Tippmann Innovation’s QF+ In-Rack Freezing system to ensure lower energy costs and greater efficiency in freeze times. Western Distribution’s state of the art, 241,000 sq. ft. cold storage facility was part of a 15-yr. dream for company owners. Sitting on prime distribution real-estate, the warehouse lies adjacent to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. For years, city officials debated on how to best develop the land. WDS wanted to take advantage of the site’s close proximity to the airport, but faced construction challenges because the land was slopped on both sides of the property. (read more)
Index Fresh, is located only 0.5 miles away from the International Bridge in Pharr, TX, which is responsible for 60% of all fresh produce imported to the U.S from Mexico. The avocado distribution company experienced incredible growth in over 5 years and needed a new facility that would allow for future growth without slowing current production.
